Printing

Today we are going to be starting our printing! We will be working with our 'My Printing Book #1' -- lowercase letters -- as well as our 'letter cards'. Our first letter for printing will be letter f!

#1) Listen to the Jolly phonics song - Jolly Phonics Letter F

- Have your child do their best to follow along with the words. As you say (ffffff), let your hands come together gently, as if an inflatable fish is deflating, and say ffffff.

Here is the link if the video above isn't working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2zRjc9h_ZY

#2) Print letters - Letter f is not the first page in the book, please have your child go through each page (say each letter as they go through) until they find letter f.

- Ensure they are holding their pencil properly

- Complete each row one by one.

- For the first row, encourage your child to stay inside the lines of the 'f'

- For the second row, encourage them to write letter f, but stay inside the box

- For the third row, do the best they can without the lines.

Tips:

- ALWAYS start at the dot

- I like to say that the rows that the students are printing on are like a house (SEE BELOW). With the letter f, you will start at the dot. draw with your pencil up to the roof, curve down to the floor. Cross at the dotted line. Make sure you don't go through the roof or the floor! We want to stay inside the house.

- Lowercase letter f is like a candy cane with a short line across it.

#3) Find the letter F card

- Cut out the letter F card

- Color the card

- Practice saying the letter sound

note: please keep these cards as we work through each letter.

#4) StoryBots letter F video

Optional: Can your child draw a picture of an animal that starts with the letter F?
